The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick

“By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them and indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.”

~ Catechism of the Catholic Church #1499

Celebrating the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick at Saint Olaf

Please call the Parish Office to arrange to receive this sacrament or to arrange for Eucharist to the sick.

Prayer for the Sick

Father of goodness and love,

hear our prayers for the sick members

of our community and for all

who are in need.

Amid mental and physical suffering

may they find consolation

in your healing presence.

Show your mercy as you close wounds,

cure illness, make broken bodies whole

and free downcast spirits.

May these special people find

lasting health and deliverance,

and so join us in thanking you

for all your gifts.

We ask this through the Lord Jesus

who healed those who believed.

Amen
